Effective February 15, 2021, and after a deep analysis of our Members’ feedback and behavior; all TravelSmart Members will be able to use their Memberships without the need to use SmartPoints in order to improve the Membership Usage Experience and increase our Members’ overall satisfaction. 

  • SmartPoints will no longer exist. With this action, all Members can use their Memberships to the fullest; eliminating any season, room type, or week restrictions.  
  • As each level of membership has a different amount of SmartPoints and to provide a proper distinction between Membership levels; each type of Membership will obtain a different discount rate over the best available online rate. The higher the membership level, the higher the discount.  

SMARTPOINTS 

What are the main impacts of not using SmartPoints while booking? 

  • Before this action, Members needed SmartPoints to make any type of booking. If the Member, for any reason, did not have enough points to complete their desired booking, the booking couldn’t be processed. – Now, this will not happen, since Members will be able to book as they please with no restrictions.  

What will happen with my SmartPoints? 

  • SmartPoints used to make a distinction between Memberships as well. We will maintain this distinction between Membership levels but now, instead of basing distinction on restrictions, it will be based on better preferential rates.  Members will get higher discount rates according to their Membership Level while prepaying at least one month before the check-in date. On the other hand, if the Member wishes to pay at check-in; they can do so while enjoying the original Member Preferential Rate with no restrictions. 

MEMBER PREFERENTIAL RATES 

What will my Member Preferential Rates be now? 

  • Members can still enjoy their Member Preferential Rate of 30% off over the best available online rate when paying at check-in.  Since the majority of our Members choose to prepay their bookings, we’ve created a more aggressive discount for each Membership level. 

Will the Best Price Guarantee and Price Match continue? 

  • Our Best Price Guarantee over the best available online rate (while comparing the same dates, rooms, guests, resort, and with no packages) will remain for the Pay at Check-in option and will vary when prepaying. 

  • If Members opt to pay at Check-In, the Best Price Guarantee and Price Match will remain as before.  

  • Since all of our rates are highly dynamic and they change really fast, the price match will be different when choosing the Prepaying option. When prepaying, the Best Price Guarantee will only apply at the moment of completing the booking.  

Can I still pay for my bookings with monthly installments? 

  • Yes. The option of prepaying the vacation with interest-free monthly payments is still available with the same terms and conditions.   

VIP Benefits

Am I losing benefits? 

  • No. Actually, you are earning more; since this benefit will increase your Membership value because of higher discount rates that will translate into bigger savings.  

I received specific VIP Benefits while traveling to Club Resorts due to my Membership Level. Will this continue? 

  • Yes. Actually, several of the benefits have improved. TravelSmart has worked to ensure Members continue to be the most pampered guests across the property. Since the distinction between Membership levels continues, the additional services while traveling will continue as well. 

  • Please keep in mind that services at the Resorts have suffered modifications but this is not related in any way to the Membership modification but is due to the strong health and safety protocols aka “Safety Assured Vacations” implemented at Club and Affiliated Resorts as a response to Covid-19. Thanks to this, our properties have achieved international recognition and certifications related to the safety of our guests.

How can I book if I don’t need points anymore?  

  • Members can book online by logging in at TravelSmartVip.com or can call the call center, where they will be taken care of. 

  • While booking online, they will not see any points to book but will see the Member Preferential Rates available to them.  

  • If a Member chooses to prepay, no charges will be made to their credit card, but an agent will call the Member within the following 24 business hours to confirm the booking and process the payment. If payment is not completed, the booking will be automatically cancelled.  


Travel Network

How can I book a Sunwing Vacation package? 

  • Although we are working to improve our Members’ experience in this process, Members are still required to call the call center to book any Sunwing Vacations package or product. 

  • Members will get their 15% off over the shown rate in Sunwing Packages and 10% off over the shown rate in Sunwing Airline tickets. 

How can I book with RCI? 

  • The process of booking with RCI will remain the same. Members need to call the Call Center.

  • Members will still be required to pay their fees with RCI such as the exchange fee among others that might apply, but no SmartPoints will be deducted from their account. 

  • Trading Power Units validation will be announced shortly.

Will this change affect my Owners Link, Flyback, or similar? 

  • No. These add-ons are offered by third parties.  They are unrelated to how the TravelSmart Membership works.   

About The Company

Are these changes risking my Membership? 

  • No. All of our Members can have the certainty that their memberships are not at any type of risk at all. Actually, the improvements made were developed to increase the value of each Membership. This has been a huge project for our company that reflects over 2 years of hard work. 

Can TravelSmart actually make these changes to my membership? 

  • Yes. Since the original Member Benefits are not being affected, this change can be done. This modification to the Membership is granting the Members additional discounts and unlimited usage and, therefore its adding benefits rather than subtracting them. 

  • This is also stated on the Club Rules, section XI, as continues: The provisions contained in the Operating Rules may be modified or amended by the Club in its sole discretion, provided these modifications or amendments do not materially affect the acquired rights of its Members. The Club shall promptly inform the Members of any changes in the Operating Rules and make the amended Operating Rules readily available to the Members. Once published on the Club website the amended Operating Rules shall have full force and effect and the previous Operating Rules will cease to be valid. 

Is this related to the announcement about the agreement between Marriott International and Blue Diamond Resorts? 

  • No. The agreement between those two companies is an expansion agreement and is not affecting TravelSmart in any kind.
